Cost Accountant

Reporting to: Product and Service Accountant

Job Purpose: Provide support and ensure accurate accounting within key operational areas of Bullitt Group

Main Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Understand development requirements of new products - NRE, certifications, samples, software, translations, etc.
  • Track actual development costs against budget and against investment case. Work with Product team to understand and minimise variances and ensure any changes to products are controlled and approved
  • Month end postings relating to product development costs, including amortisation
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation for product development costs
  • Maintain standard cost and actual product P&Ls for monthly reporting pack
  • Track allocation and spend on samples. Ensure approvals are in place, stock is issued to the correct cost centre, and budget owners are aware of cost. Challenge samples requests to drive down spend

Royalties & IP

  • Work with Product and Legal teams to understand existing and potential Brand Royalty and IP obligations
  • Month end postings including Royalty & IP accruals and management of prepaid licenses 
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliation for all royalty and IP provisions 
  • Prepare quarterly returns for submission to Licensees. Ensure statements are accurate, have correct approvals, and are submitted and paid on time


  • Understand key aftersales cost drivers and cash spend. Collate monthly service KPI’s and maintain monthly financial service reports for service managers
  • Manage accruals and prepayments for service spend
  • Assist with monthly reconciliation of warranty reserve
  • Assist with monthly reconciliation of service inventory
  • Review service supply chain POs to ensure costs are in line with the latest price book and all approvals are in place before reporting back for sign off
  • Review of service site POs with service account managers
  • Work with account managers to review, justify and challenge monthly commercial claims
  • Assist with preparation of supporting reports for forecasting and planning purposes
  • Assist with weekly cashflow forecasting
  • Create product quality reports for UK and Taiwan teams. Work with product quality team to support with AFR analysis
  • Support both finance colleagues and service team with any required ad hoc work, including spend analysis, providing information for future projects, and ensuring accruals for projected spend are recorded accurately 


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • ACCA/CIMA – Part Qualified
  • SAGE desirable – not essential
  • SALESFORCE (or similar CRMs) desirable – not essential
  • Experience of the mobile industry, in particular product development/aftersales desirable – not essential
  • Excel – Advanced – essential. Must be data driven and able to create own reports and analysis
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
  • Work on own initiative
